A BACK GARDEN - A family has successfully cut one person’s birthday cake between 10 relatives upon discovering all ten have birthdays within the same 30-day period.

The Hussain family’s son briefly enjoyed sole ownership of his birthday cake before five cousins, three uncles and one aunty invoked their own September birthdays and joined proceedings.

The family, who had intended the pistachio chocolate cake for their son alone, were forced into increasingly strained smiles as relatives emerged from all sides insisting their birthdays were either imminent or had only recently passed.

“We could wait until my daughter’s actual birthday later this month,” said one woman, pushing her child to the front of the 10-person queue, “but then I’d have to host everyone, arrange dinner and pick up another cake. Who has the time for all that?”

Witnesses report that several people whose birthdays had already passed still participated in the cake-cutting, while others whose birthdays had not yet arrived appeared equally comfortable accepting congratulations in advance.

Before the cake could be cleared away, a couple with an anniversary later that month also joined the queue, apparently deciding the eligibility criteria had by then become largely symbolic.

The Charpai understands that, next year, the Hussain family will be celebrating their son’s birthday on an undisclosed date and at an undisclosed location.
